I fly to Mexico City after teaching Cultural Geography tomorrow. I will participate in and document the demonstrations on September 26 and October 2. The first demonstration, on Saturday (flyer above), is for the 43 student teachers disappeared one year ago with the apparent complicity of government officials. On activists’ challenge to the official story, the Americas Program recently released a brief statement that’s worth reading. I plan to post photos and reflections in the coming days.
